* Go for a lavender and black colored theme. Go for light lavender colored walls, with black metal accessories and black bathtub, sink and toilet. Place a potpourri bowl with lavender and other color ingredients and sprinkle some lavender essential oil for a bathroom which even smells like lavender!
* Create soothing and natural looking bathroom decorations with off-white colored tiles, place a bamboo mat and bamboo shelves and a small bamboo houseplant.

* Go for a theme like an open bathroom and paint the ceiling with a sky mural. Add more bathroom lighting or consider installing a skylight and use tiles which give a feel of outdoors. Or hang paintings which display outdoors on white tiled walls.
* Create your own private beach theme in your bathroom. Hang a sign on the door saying private beach, then add accessories like shells, crabs, starfish on the walls. Go for aqua green shade of tiles and floor, and use metal accessories with bronze color and white bathtub, sink and toilet. Add a shower curtain with shell designs on it, and go for bathroom vanities like a mirror with a coral frame.
* Try out a stunning and modern looking bathroom, with bold and clean lines and colors like black and silver. Use black colored walls, and steel accessories. Sober it down a bit by going for white sink, toilet and bathtub. Place 2 abstract paintings, one on the opposite wall to the toilet and one on the opposite wall to the shower stall for you to contemplate.
* For a soft and beautiful light reflecting bathroom, go for wooden bathroom flooring of medium shade. Then place some rocks and house plants which can live in low light on the ground. Go for white bathtub, sink and toilet; and place soft translucent fabric curtains with the same colors of the walls, which can be blue, orange or green.
* Go for a plain white colored bathroom with white walls and floor, and bathtub, sink and toilet. Then add light fixtures of great designs which give out different colors. Pick an assortment of such colored lights and hang them on the four corners and enjoy the blending of beautiful colors in your bathroom. Use little accessories like wooden shelves and other small wooden decorative items, and place a vase with flowers on the sink counter.

Pretty Little Things

It's almost March and I was out shovelling again today.  It's been a long winter and the prettiness of spring beckons.  Yesterday I went to West Edmonton Mall and looked at everything.  It looks like spring will be pretty.  The stores are filled with pink and cream flower pins, pink floral scarves and pale pink shoes.  It's all lovely.

I think if you like shabby chic you are a romantic who likes to dress the way you feel and this is the year for romance.  The Gap is doing ruffled tank tops, pale light pink sweaters,

and romantic ballerina shrugs.

I purchased both of these this weekend.  This year feels like the year I can finally find the romantic pieces I have been looking for.  I believe Anthropologie created this move to romance for retailers.  I adore Anthro but I cannot afford their clothes. Why is everything more expensive in Canada?

I went to Anthro yesterday too.  It is the most creative store, with changing window displays all the time.  I was in with my daughter a few months ago and the sales girl mentioned that they have interns creating all the extra details that you see in there.

I saw a beautiful spring dress yesterday in Anthro called the Tuileries Dress, you should try to find it online, it says spring and it's charming.

This post is short as I misplaced my camera for a few weeks.  I'm back on track today and promise to get up and running.

Thanks for your patience,
Patricia

Tips for open house success

Don’t throw an open house if you are not planning to market it properly. Who wants to sit in an empty house for three hours?

Step #1: Make sure the house is in impeccable condition, no detail should be forgotten. If the house is vacant, staging the home might be the thing to do. A successful open house can sell a home; make sure it is ready for its debut.

Step #2: Timing is everything. Think about scheduling the open house in the evening versus the weekend. Not only will it help to separate it from all the rest, it may also help people who have weekend plans squeeze it in.

Step #3: Use the internet! Get the word out about the open house online. Social networking sites are a great place to announce upcoming open house events. If you have a blog, start blogging. Don’t have the time? Hire a professional blogger to help spread the word on local real estate blogs.

Step #4: Make a video that will entice buyers and realtors to come see the home in person.

Step #5: Register anyone who attends the open house, this way you can follow-up with them after the open house. Make sure no one walks out the door with our filling out a registration.

An open house can be all a skilled agent needs to get the house sold, make sure it is done right.

Open House at Parkland Golf a Success

We are pleased to report; we had an overwhelming turnout at our Real Estate Open House Events this past week. Both open house events were held for the Villa Positano Custom Home at Parkland Golf and both were truly a success, with an unprecedented amount of traffic all three days.

This is no coincidence; Marketwatch 2011 predicts that the Florida real estate market is looking up! The housing market is experiencing a turning point, and it is almost certain that the worst is behind us. Sales are going up, way up in comparison to previous years and inventory is down.

As custom builders, we have seen an upswing in traffic and a much heightened level of interest in home building, so much that we are certain this will be a continuing trend.

With demand continuing to go up and the supply dropping quickly, homebuyers looking for available inventory will need to act fast.

Bulk for South Florida

Investment groups completed two more Broward County bulk condo deals in the last two weeks, according to condovultures.com.

  • •Friday, February 11th, 2011- Sonata Grand LLC spent 9.7 million for 22 units at Sonata Beach Club in Pompano Beach.
  • Last week, Village East Investment LLC paid $7.65 million for 68 units at Village East in Fort. Lauderdale.

The trend seems to be to break up the units bought and sell them to international buyers, typically paying cash. Investors anticipate selling the units at double the price once sold individually.

As of 2008, investment groups have completed 71 bulk deals in Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade counties and these sales are likely to continue. Buying in bulk reduces the liability of investors, thanks to a bill passed last year.

The infusion of capital is positive news for the aforementioned counties and definitely helps to get things going for South Florida Housing.

Greenery

I have never lived without winter.  All my life in Canada I have had winter. By the time spring hits I am thrilled to see green and plants. I try in the winter to have some green in my home.  Not always with success but I try.

Baby tears from Wellington.  So easy to have in the house, water twice a week, put in a beautiful urn and enjoy.  Urn is from Michaels years ago, base is from walmart with a paint job and a magnet glued on.

Not so beautiful with the orange pot peeking out I know.  I have been struggling with this gardenia for months.  Fertilizer, light, no flowers.  Sigh.  I am hoping for success in the summer.  I loved the smell of Gardenia and it has beautiful white waxy flowers. If anyone has a solution I would love to hear it.

Orchids have been a staple in my house for years.  Easy to grow, long flowering and little need for fuss.

Ferns under glass in white.  It's all beautiful.

A Myrtle.  I love the topiary shape of a myrtle.  Easy, lots of water, light, and a little hair trim and they are always beautiful.  I love to trim a Myrtle, it smells a bit like a fresh pine tree when it's done.

Until next time,
Patricia

WA Office Desk by Piero Lissoni and Marc

An entire range of furniture can be linked to this desk, creating an office design where the owner can play with shapes anytime, rearranging how it all looks. Ergonomic accessories called “soft parts” soften the interface between the user and the work surface.

Designers Piero Lissoni and Marc Krusin created a very versatile desk for Knoll International. The word “Wa” means harmony and this is exactly what the desk represents.
