Four Keys to a Cozy Bedroom Design
There are a few similar practices that arise when designing and building living rooms, bathrooms, and kitchens. While all three serve very different purposes, the one connection they share is that all three rooms are designed to suit homeowners as well as their guests. That is the contrary factor in the design of a bedroom. Unlike other areas of a home, a bedroom is a private space, typically for one or two people. There is much to consider when designing and building a bedroom in order to achieve the perfect level of style and coziness. Keep these tips in mind when working on your next bedroom.
Ceilings
Ceilings are a crucial component of a bedrooms atmosphere. Consider a ceiling to be the sky of the bedroom. For every bedroom style there is a specific type of ceiling that works best with it. Cork ceilings can provide a natural look and are also eco-friendly. For the cottage look, a paneled ceiling easily blends into the room’s decor. Treat your ceilings as you would your floors.
Colors
Well matched, well distributed color schemes can create the perfect cozy mood. Warm colors give off an upbeat feel, while cool colors are calm and quiet. Finding that perfect mix of assorted shades is wonderful, but to really give a bedroom that cozy feel you need to distribute them appealingly. Some colors may cover the room while others add accents.
Lighting
No matter which colors you choose, they won’t seem vibrant without proper lighting. Take time to consider where you want your lights to be placed. Certain areas of bedrooms, particularly closets, tend to be poorly lit. Remember that brighter lights encourage activity while low lighting creates a relaxed atmosphere. For a blend of the two consider installing a dimmer.

A Crown
It started with a crown.
I have been looking for a crown stamp for years. Since 2007 to be exact. I looked on ebay - $15.00 plus shipping to Canada = wayyyy to much $$ for a little stamp. I have looked for years,.... yes years. Every time I went into Michaels I checked the stamp department I could never find one. Dissapointment every time.
Yesterday....... A Crown!!!
Do you recognize it yet??
More "Treasures by Shabby Chic"at Michael's, this time feature a crown motif and a flowers.
Facial Tissues!! I have yet to open one but I probably will soon.
Note Cards:
with beautiful aqua envelopes and a bow.
It was a delightful find. I have one complaint though, I wish there was some some sort of notice when new product arrives. I was just lucky to look down and find my crown. I guess part of the fun is the find.
Oh yes, the crown was$1.50 and it was 20% off day(!) It turns out after all these years it was worth waiting for.

The perfect home
More often than not, buyers are looking for a house that meets their long list of requirements. The reality is that unless a home is custom built it will not meet each and every one of the buyers wants.
Buyers need to focus on the bigger picture, like the floorplan, size, community, location, versus the smaller details. A home should not become a deal breaker if it is not 100% perfect.
On occasion a buyer's expectations will be entirely unrealistic. In fact, many want a dream home at an impossible price which makes it all the more difficult. At this point in time, quality inventory is disappearing quickly in the South Florida market.
While it may be a "buyer's market" due to the higher than normal inventory levels, it is not necessarily worthwhile inventory that is available. For buyers looking for perfection, down to the last detail, a custom home might be a better fit.

Understanding the luxury home buyer
As a custom home builder, I am feeling much better about the luxury real estate market. And while my optimism may be cautious, my confidence is increasing daily.
Though the economy is recovering the economic environment has changed indefinitely. It is important that as builders we understand the changing needs and wants of luxury home buyers when it comes to working with a real estate agent or broker.
Luxury Portfolio International just released a White Paper that found the following conclusions on today’s luxury real estate buyer:
Read the entire White Paper entitled “How Today’s Highly Affluent U.S. Consumer Selects Luxury Real Estate Associates and Brokerages.”

Luxury Portfolio International just released a White Paper that found the following conclusions on today’s luxury real estate buyer:
- Home buyers make decisions based on the reputation of realtors, and brokers
- Elegant websites are important, but equally important is the website’s popularity, content, and proven online presence
- A top priority for today’s luxury consumers when selecting an agent is market knowledge, experience, and global reach
- Internet is paramount, but printed material is still vital for advertising (printed material must be elegant and of high quality)
- Magazine advertising is still fitting, where the affluent and wealthy expect to find real estate tips and home design trends
- Consumers are more fiscally responsible
- Consumer expectations have risen-luxury real estate buyers are looking for fair-priced homes that still provide superb quality of amenities and features

Better Late Than Never
It has been cold this year and rainy and as a result my peony's were late. Better late than never when it's a peony.
They were extraordinary this year.
I love the heartshaped petals.
I purchased a double white peony and when it bloomed it was a single petal pink. I hate false peony advertising!
I love the scent of a peony but no one seems to be able to replicate it in a perfume without it smelling fake. If you know of a great one let me know.

Finding the right custom home builder
What defines a qualified custom home builder? A qualified custom home builder is completely aware of time and budget and uses tools and expertise to guarantee stellar results. A qualified custom home builder is also extremely knowledgeable and experienced in the art of residential construction.
Building a custom home entails the accurate management of hundreds of details and products required for the completion of a home. Furthermore, it necessitates a patient home builder willing to hold the hand of the homebuyer during the entire process, ensuring that the homebuyer’s needs are always met. A qualified custom home builder can manage all this without overlooking even the most minute detail.
As a result of the dedication required to build a custom home, a qualified home builder does not split themselves too thin. Instead, a qualified custom home builder takes on a limited amount of custom home projects.
A qualified custom home builder:
- Never sacrifices quality for production
- Looks at value and quality not price, when hiring subcontractors, vendors or buying products
- Spends ample time at each job site
