In the blog post, Custom Building a Luxury Home-Part 1 we decided it was location, then selection of the home builder that were crucial first steps in the building process. Then in the blog post titled, Custom Building a Luxury Home-Part 2 we discussed the importance of planning a budget and creating functionality.
In this last portion, we will be discussing the final topics to consider before deciding on a custom home versus an existing luxury home.
Luxury homes are owned by high net-worth individuals, who naturally want to protect their families and valuables. When building a custom home, security and privacy are major factors that must be considered. Most luxury homeowners opt to build a home in a gated community. If a location outside a gated community is desired, a personal security gate is a must. Aside from the gate, the interior and exterior of the house can be fit with motion detection systems and cameras for even greater protection.
The last thing to consider is the possible resale of the home. Typically individuals who build a custom home live a long period of time in the custom built home, but this is the right time to consider all possibilities. If, later down the road, the homeowner does decide to sell their dream home it is important to have interested buyers who also view the home as their dream home. While there might be some features that are of particular interest, always consider whether they increase or decrease the value of the home.
Finally, if those in the market for a luxury home, should weigh the pros and cons associated with either building a home or buying an existing home. While there are benefits to both, custom home building allows buyers to control the home's layout, add personal touches and pick features that fit their lifestyle. On the other hand, for those worried about costs an existing luxury home might be the best option.
